Tip of the week #4 – ‘How to counter groups’

As a big Zombie Panic! fan, you’ll probably be very well known with fighting ‘big groups’ as a zombie. And fighting a group of humans is probably the toughest thing to deal with. After all, even when a group of humans only carries a pistol, a lot of shots will still deal a lot of damage in a short amount of time. So how do you counter these big groups?

Six humans run towards the projector room in Cinema, one of them starts yelling: “You there, put the green cabinet in front of that door! And you, throw some stuff on the staircase!” The six survivors start to work on their ‘camproom’, trying to make it as secure as possible. Weapons get shared, ammo is being dropped on the ground, in other words: these humans will soon be all set up in this room. A zombie tries to break in, but two guys with rifles finish him off easily. The zombie now knows: it’s not gonna work like this.. So, how IS IT going to work?

The first way to deal with people in a room is by being in that room BEFORE the humans are there. A lot of camp spots are very well known and pretty much always used. A zombie can anticipate on this. Just ambush a human right from the start in that camping spot. This way, you’ll probably get rid of at least one human, but you also give a signal to the humans: if you stay here, you are gonna go down!

But ok, what if the humans still manage to settle in their camping spot, then what? From that moment, it is important that you stop running into this group of humans on your own. That way, the humans will hardly waste ammo, and you will just loose lives. So you should go after individuals instead. Kill everyone who is NOT in the room. Those people are much easier targets after all.

Once you’ve killed some humans, your group of zombies will grow bigger. It is very important that you try to co-ordinate with the other zombies. After all: you’ll only be able to take down this group if you work together.

First of all: try to bring down the humans’ barricades. Use the strong push and überpush to push over things like green cabinets. Keep in mind that, when you try this, it always works better to hit a green cabinet at an as high point as possible. This will increase the chance of the cabinet being pushed over.

Action info

Push = right mouse button
Überpush = right mouse button + shift (can only be used when you have some lunge in your feed-o-meter)

You’ll notice that, when you try to destroy barricades, the humans will try to shoot you down. Always retreat and re-generate your health when you get low on HP. This way, you will safe lives, but also: you will make the humans waste ammo, which makes the humans run out of ammo in the long run.

Once you managed do destroy some barricades and to create new openings you can go to the next step. You should now try to co-ordinate (with other zombies) to all charge at the same time, preferably from multiple ways. This way, it will be hard for the humans to deal with all the zombies. Like this, you will have a very big chance that some humans will die, or at least take damage.

If you are not able to clean out the room the first time, try to do it the second time. Once again, try to co-ordinate with your teammates. But if you play it like this, you can hardly lose.
