The Zombie Panic Veterans headquarters

A poll on www.zombiepanicveterans.com shows that the majority of the Zombie Panic! players has the shotgun as his favourite weapon.

On the question: ‘What is your favourite ZP!S weapon?’ Were four possible answers: the magnum, a rifle, a shotgun or something different. Out of the 77 votes, a majority of 40% voted for the shotgun. The magnum made second place with 26% of the votes, followed by the rifle and something else, with both 17% of the votes.

The result is surprising, especially since shotguns like the Super Shorty and the Winchester are generally spoken very unpopular guns. This is caused by the small magazines (2 shells in the Winchester and 3 in the Super Shorty), combined with the awfully slow reload times. It is not for nothing that these guns have earned themselves the nicknames: ‘Failchester‘ and ‘Super Shitty‘.

It is therefor probable that especially the Remmington is a very popular gun amongst the Zombie Panic! players. Unlike the Winchester and the Super Shorty, the magazine of the Remmy can carry up to 6 shells. The higher weight of the Remmington gets compensated with the slightly shorter reload time and the seemingly more damage effective barrel.

The magnum

A second place for the magnum is decent, but still surprising. After all, the magnum is (strictly spoken) the most effective gun. A shot to the head with a magnum garantees an instant death of a regular zombie after all. However, especially the fact that this gun recquires quite some skill makes it a lot less popular.

Heavy weight

Biggest subjects of criticism concerning the rifles are the too big amounts of ammo that they recquire and the too heavy weights.

Pistols and melee

Also interesting is the fact that 17% of the voters seem to prefer something else than a primary weapon (rifle, shotgun or magnum), but rather stick to a pistol or melee weapon.
