Barricading

Barricading

Ever seen hammers with a red handle? Those are barricades. Hold them next to a door opening or window, you’ll see an image of a barricade. Use left mouse button to attach it to the wall.

Barricades come to good use to slow down the zombies, giving you more time to deal damage. But make sure you actually kill a zombie behind a barricade. What often happens is that survivors deal damage, but don’t finish the job, letting the zombie regenarate its HP. Indirectly this is a waste of ammo. So as mentioned: finish the job.

Altering the barricade

By pressing ‘R’ you can rotate the barricade, by pressing RMB you can choose a long or a short barricade. Make good use of this. Instead of using 2 barricades for one opening, you can also use just 1 when you rotate it a bit. There aren’t too many barricades, so don’t just waste them. Never put them too close to the ground, if someone jumps on top of it, it will be destroyed instantly. Also, don’t put it too high, else zombies will be able to crouch underneath it too fast.

Height

A smart way to use a barricade is by putting it exactly on a height so that you can still see the zombies head. This way, you can either headshot the human eating bastard. Or, when he goes underneath it, deal simple headshot damage while he moves very slowly. Especially when you have a magnum you can put this hint to good uses.

Dangers of barricading

Going with a group to a room and barricade (for instance) 3 entrances, is in a way a death trap. Once the zombies manage to find an opening there is no way for you to escape. Therefor, always go to areas that have a lot of escape routes, so you will be able to actually panic and get away from the zombies.
Also, fighting from within a barricaded room may cause lots of chaos and confusion when zombies get in, which oftenly leads to the famous ‘rape’.
