Small Tips

  • Surprise a zombie!

When you holster your weapon (H) you look unarmed to the oblivious zombie. Just grab your gun when you think your enemy has come close enough and finish him off! Make sure you have a good weapon when you try out this little trick. A rifle is the best suited for this.

  • The Panic Button

Pressing the panic button will make you drop all your stuff (except for the weapon you have in front of you at that moment), and will give you extra speed. This way, you can try and get away from the zombie (horde).

Make sure to press the panic button in time. Pressing it too late will let you not benefit from it, cause it takes time for panic to really work.

Hint
Bind the panic button to something like ‘Q’, this way, you can press easy and fast on the panic button, which allows you to run away faster. After all, you dont want to be looking for your panic button. It can make the difference between staying alive and dieing!

  • Create your own fighting situation

If you know that a zombie saw you, just act like you didn’t see him: act blind. Keep on walking and wait for him in another room. Let him walk right into your trap and into your bullets.
Sometimes you need to draw attention to yourself. You can do this by, for instance, using your flashlight.

  • THE counter to getting ambushed

Two things are important to prevend yourself from getting ambushed. First of all, always watch your corners. If you know a zombie is waiting for you, just step forward a little bit. Just make it look like you are about to enter the room. Once your nose has gone through the (door) opening you should walk backwards right away. Practicly every zombie thinks for a second that you will walk into the room, or that you saw something on the floor and backed out because of that. They will walk right into your gun fire. If you have a rifle or magnum, just stand still and finish the approaching zombie off. If you have a shotgun you might just want to walk backwards a little longer to make sure the zombie won’t reach you while you shoot him.

  • Health, armor, pills and medpacks

Always be very careful. 100 HP sounds like much, but it might as well have been 4 HP, because four hits of a regular zombie will already get you killed. The carrier however does more damage, which will cause you to die in three hits.

Pills and Healthpacks will regenarate your health. Pills give you 20 HP back, whereas the Healthpack gives 45 HP. However, dont rely to much on these things. Not every map has as much pills and healthpacks as another.

To secure yourself a bit more you can also find Armor. These give you 50 extra points which help you to resist 20% to attacks. You can carry up to a maximum of two Armor packs (a total of 100 points), this will make you resist 40%.

  • What to do at a staircase?

Staircases are tricky. Most staircases in ZP!S go 180 degrees, this means there are a lot of corners. As a survivor, you should watch out for this. All the staircases have a wooden floor, this means that step 1 is to use your ears to know if there is a zombie coming up. If you don’t hear anything you shouldn’t just go down yet. Not all the zombies just use the staircase to get from one floor to another, no, some also use it to ambush humans. Therefor, take it slow. Keep using your ears, so you will know when a potential zombie comes up. If you do see a zombie around a corner, move backwards out of the staircase. Most zombies will try to kill you right away. If you back up as soon as you’ve seen the zombie, you should be able (when your not too heavy) to walk backwards while shooting down the zombie.
In the situation that you can hear a zombie coming up, using the staircase, you should take a good distance from the staircase. Try to avoid fighting IN the staircase! It is a small ‘room’, where you tend to use too much ammo to get a zombie down. You wouldn’t be the first one to die on the staircase, so watch out!

  • Red eyes

Zombies have eyes that light up red. Since regular zombies are black, they are very hard to see in the dark, but their red eyes give away they are there. Keep this in mind.

  • Music

The music in Zombie Panic! Source is great: creepy, scary, good for the atmosphere. Though, if you want to become very good at ZP!S we advise you to turn off the music. Music will make it harder for you to hear, and being able to hear is very important.

  • How to deal with corners?

Watch out for corners! Zombies will oftenly wait for you behind a door opening. Thats why you have to make sure there is nothing there, don’t just run into a room! Check out the video below how you can do this.

  • Opening the alley door in Cinema

The video below will show you how to open the alley door on Cinema properly. Make good use of it! It might be a bit tricky, but in the end you’ll be able to do it as well.
